Five student leaders will represent the students of Elgin Community College for the 2023-24 academic year. Ryan Kolbusz, South Elgin, was elected as the District 509 Board of Trustees student trustee. ECC’s Student Body Government will be led by President Victor Senese, Huntley, with Adrian Nevarez, Elgin, as executive vice president, Angelica Palomar, Elgin, as executive secretary, and Brenda Rogel, Elgin, as executive treasurer.

Kolbusz will replace Alison McVey, who has served as the 2022-23 student trustee. McVey graduates in May with an associate in science.

“I decided to run because I wanted to become more involved on campus and contribute to the students of ECC in a meaningful way,” said Kolbusz. “As student trustee, I hope to be a reliable voice for the student body, ensuring the board hears their concerns and desires.”

Senese was elected to serve as the president of the student government. Outgoing student government president Leslie Gracia graduates in May with an associate in science.

“After returning to in-person classes, I was still very antisocial due to the pandemic,” said Senese. “Because of the clubs at ECC, I reconnected with old friends and even made new ones. As student body president, I want to improve the clubs and environment so all students can come together for a richer and more fulfilling college life.”
