A Brother's Revival

The Elgin Community College Arts Center’s first stage performance of the fall season will be A Brother’s Revival on Saturday, September 24, from 7 – 9:30 pm in the Blizzard Theatre, located in Building H on the Spartan Drive Campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin, Ill.

A Brother’s Revival carries on the music and spirit of the Allman Brothers. Led by former bassist ('78-'82) David ‘Rook’ Goldflies, the group is a legacy Allman Brothers band whose bandleader spent years learning from and performing with Gregg Allman, Dickey Betts, Butch Trucks, and Jai Johanny ‘Jaimoe’ Johanson.

Goldflies, who toured and recorded three albums with the Allman Brothers, created A Brother’s Revival to keep the music and memory of the Allman Brothers alive. "Having played in the Allman Brothers band for many years, I insist on our performances being authentic while recreating the intensity of the original band," says Goldflies.

Along with Goldflies, the group is comprised of vocalist and keyboardist Mike Kach, who toured with Dickey Betts and Great Southern for over a decade. Kach was Betts’ choice to carry on the sound of Gregg Allman’s bluesy performances. During the performance, Goldflies will lead A Brother’s Revival through many Allman Brothers classics, such as “Jessica,” “One Way Out,” “Statesboro Blues,” “Midnight Rider,” “Melissa,” “Ramblin’ Man,” “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed,” “Soulshine,” “Whipping Post,” and more.

Tickets to A Brother’s Revival are $35 and can be purchased at ECC Arts Center and by phone at 847-622-0300. See us on Facebook at facebook.com/eccartscenter and on Instagram @eccartscenter.
