Gov. J.B  Pritzker announced new statewide mandates that require all educators and staff working pre-K through college, college students, and health care workers to be vaccinated. Elgin Community College personnel and students who do not receive the first dose vaccine by Sept. 5 will be required to undergo COVID testing at least once a week.

Additionally, masks indoors will be required for ages two and above –in retail shops, fitness centers, movie theaters, restaurants, sporting events, and other public spaces and common areas effective Aug. 30. As a reminder, masks continue to be required on ECC’s campus.

ECC is committed to mitigating the spread of this virus and keeping our students, employees, and community members safe. We know that vaccinations save lives, and everyone who is able to get vaccinated is encouraged to do so. Visit kanevax.org or Vaccines.gov for information on vaccination locations near you.

As has been our practice since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Elgin Community College is actively working through the additional protocols that must be implemented to meet this new vaccination requirement. ECC employees and students should continue to check their email as additional details will be released as soon as possible.
