Coronavirus (COVID-19)

For all ECC's updates and information regarding COVID-19, visit the Emergency Management page.

Although Governor Pritzker’s Stay-at-Home order is currently in effect through Tuesday, April 7, please remember instruction resumes on March 30, 2020, in alternative learning formats (remotely) for most courses, with the exception of some lab courses and other specialized courses.  No on-campus classes will be in session the week of March 30.  Please check your student email for updates on when classes with lab components and other specialized classes will resume.

Because Elgin Community College (ECC) is committed to supporting your transition from face-to-face courses to an alternative course delivery mode, and to address any barriers to your success to the greatest extent possible, the college has extended the last date to withdraw for most courses to allow you more time to transition and seek assistance with the new online format.

The Last Day to Drop is extended to Monday, April 20, 2020, for most courses.  Courses currently with the Last Day to Drop after April 20, 2020, will remain as scheduled.  You can visit the Withdrawal Procedures page for an updated list of course withdrawal dates for the spring semester.

We encourage you to be patient with yourself and faculty with this transition.  Your faculty as well as academic, financial and student support services are all here to continue to help you through this transition, and we all want to see you successfully complete the spring semester.

A list of all academic, financial, and student support services that will be available remotely during the week of March 30 will be sent to students later this week.

However, if you feel you have exhausted all options and elect to withdraw from a course(s), we have added a new reason code (OF - move to online format) to help us track drops related to this change in instruction.  If you are a financial aid recipient, please contact the Financial Aid department at financialaid@elgin.edu to discuss if there is any impact on your aid due to withdrawing from a course.  Contact Registration at registration@elgin.edu if you have any difficulties dropping your course.

We hope you are safe and healthy and that you complete your semester.  Remember we are here for you!
