Elgin Community College will host an expo focused on programs in science, technology, engineering, math, and health sciences on Wednesday, March 11. The expo, which is free and open to the public, will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Building B Hallway on campus at 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

This fun and interactive event will highlight everything STEM and health science-related happening on the ECC campus. During the expo, attendees can participate in hands-on activities and demonstrations with ECC’s STEM and health sciences faculty, including a dice-rolling competition, blood typing, and examining a dissected heart.

“Students will get hands-on experience with STEM and hopefully get excited about these fields and want to take more STEM and health sciences classes,” said Renee Skrabacz, associate dean of health professions, math, science, and engineering.

Attendees can also learn more about careers in these fields and get information about the programs and certificates available at ECC. The expo is open-house style, allowing visitors to come when they can.

“For the past two years, we have been working on expanding the presence of STEM courses at ECC,” added Skrabacz. “We want the community to realize ECC is a destination for students pursuing a degree and career in STEM or a related field.”
