Elgin Community College will host "The Demand for Manufacturing Jobs," a webinar focused on manufacturing and technology jobs on Thursday, Oct. 29, at 9 a.m.

Join the webinar to hear from Mark Denzler, president, and CEO of the Illinois Manufacturing Association (IMA), about the impact the manufacturing sector has on the local economy and what skills are in-demand. Ron Brown, director of education and training at Smith & Richardson in Geneva, will share what employers are looking for when they hire.

"This is an initiative that ECC's Sustainability, Business, and Career Technology (SBCT) division, Office of Admissions, and Marketing Department are doing as a collaborative effort to commemorate October as National Manufacturing Month," said Cathy Taylor, Dean of SBCT.  "Because of COVID, we are unable to do the traditional manufacturing and technology job fair, so the next best thing is to conduct a virtual chat with the IMA and one of our industry partners to have them share with students, parents, and the community what the future of manufacturing looks like."

ECC offers students multiple career training options with short-term certificate programs, classes to build skills and advance training, or a full Associate's degree. With courses in maintenance technology, industrial manufacturing, computer integrated manufacturing, commercial truck driving, forklift, energy management, HVACR, computer-aided design (CAD), engineering, and welding, ECC can provide you with the technical expertise to pursue new career opportunities.
