Apply as a New College Student

ECC Admissions Live Chat

First time in college?

Here’s how to get started on a bright future at ECC.

Applying is easy, and there’s no application fee. Here are the steps to follow whether you’re applying for a degree or certificate program or want to take a class or two for credit.

Step 1: Apply for Admission

The first step is to apply for admission. ECC has an open admission policy, so no one is turned away. A detailed welcome letter will be sent to you by email and postal mail once your application has been processed, outlining your next steps for completing your enrollment.

Step 2: Apply for Financial Aid and Scholarships

Get help paying for college by applying for financial aid and scholarships! ECC offers comprehensive financial aid options, including federal and state grants, scholarships, work-study, and loans. You should apply for financial aid, even if you think you may not be eligible. Financial aid and scholarships are available for adults, and the Alternative Application for state aid is available for qualifying undocumented and transgender students.

Priority Processing Dates

Fall enrollment - July 1
Spring enrollment - November 1
Summer enrollment - April 1

You can still apply after these dates. If you apply after the priority deadline, set up a payment plan to hold your classes.

Step 3: Submit Transcripts and Test Scores

You must demonstrate that you meet proficiencies and course or program prerequisites to enroll in classes. You will receive a letter with information about how to satisfy placement test requirements for your particular program of study. There are many ways you can demonstrate college readiness.

What’s next: Send your high school, college, and/or military transcripts to admissions@elgin.edu.
