ECC announces 2022 NISOD Award winners

Five Elgin Community College employees have been selected to receive the 2022 National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence Awards. The award recognizes outstanding faculty, staff, and administrators of community and technical colleges.

“We received many excellent nominations this year, demonstrating the outstanding work done by our faculty, staff, and administrators,” said Peggy Heinrich, EdD, vice president of teaching, learning, and student development. “Despite the challenges that persist as we continue to navigate teaching and learning in the wake of the pandemic, these individuals have found ways to keep our students engaged and have focused their efforts on ensuring our students succeed.”

The award winners include Luis Caballero, MA, academic advisor; Mia Hardy, Ph.D., assistant professor of sociology; Lauren Nehlsen, Ph.D., associate dean, recruitment, outreach, and global engagement; Tyler Roeger, Ph.D., director of the Center for Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (CETL); and Joe Rosenfeld, Psy.D., professor of human services.

In February, these individuals will represent ECC at the League for Innovation in the Community College’s Innovations Conference or the NISOD International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence in May.

ECC NISOD recipients are also submitted to receive the John and Suanne Roueche Excellence Award with the League for Innovation, which celebrates outstanding contributions and leadership by community college faculty and staff.
