Student Resources

  • Academic Advising: Student Services offers academic advising—Call 847-214-7390 to set up an appointment or use the student portal. To be placed on the drop-in list to speak to an advisor, please call 847-214-7390. Questions? Email advising@elgin.edu.
  • Academic Records: Outgoing transcripts and other services are available on the AccessECC student portal. Questions? Email records@elgin.edu.
  • Apprenticeships: Employers are actively hiring apprentices. Complete the interest form to sign up.
  • Athletics: Team recruitment is active.
  • Career Development Services: Use the AccessECC portal or call 847-214-7390 to schedule an appointment. Questions? Email careerservices@elgin.edu.
  • D2L Student Orientation: If you are enrolled in any of our distance learning course types, this site is for you, and you are strongly encouraged to read all of the information provided carefully.
  • D2L Technical Assistance: Call 847-214-7620 or email d2lhelpdesk@elgin.edu
  • Financial Aid: Our office is open to answering questions about completing your FAFSA and required forms and documents. We will also accept paperwork via email or fax to 847-608-5460. 
  • Gmail (Faculty & Students): Enter your full ECC email address and your portal password when prompted.
  • Google Meet (Faculty & Students): Login with your email and access meetings from anywhere with Internet access.
  • Graduation: If you will complete your degree or certificate in August and wish to be recognized in the May graduation ceremony, you must meet established deadlines. Please visit the Self-Service App on the portal. You will see your active program(s) in the Graduation Overview. If you do not see the program from which you wish to graduate, don't hesitate to contact records@elgin.edu with your name, student ID, and the program from which you intend to graduate. You will order regalia (your cap and gown) at no charge using the online graduation application by providing your height and weight.
  • Internships: Begin or continue planning for your placement. Questions? Email Joseph Onesimus or complete the interest form.
  • Library Circulation Department: Services are available remotely, curbside, and in person. In addition to books, audiobooks, music, and DVDs available for checkout, the ECC Library also has Chromebooks, Windows laptops, graphing calculators, and Wi-Fi hotspots available for checkout for students who need them.   • Registration: Schedule an on-campus appointment by calling 847-214-7393.
  • Scholarships: Applications are being accepted. If your private scholarship is mailed to ECC, check with the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office at 847-214-7360 to confirm ECC received it and that you have been awarded the scholarship. 
  • Spartan Pantry: Students can receive pre-assembled food packages. Questions? Email spartanpantry@elgin.edu.
  • Spartan Success: When a faculty member raises an early alert for a student, an academic advisor meets with the student to better understand any challenges and help develop a customized plan for continued academic success.
  • Student Access and Disability Services: If you have not yet requested accommodation letters through our online system, go to Disability Services under Returning Students and click Request Form. New Students click on the Registration Form. 
  • Student Accounts: The Student Accounts Office is the centralized billing and collection point for all college receivables. For student account or payment questions, email studentaccounts@elgin.edu.
  • Student Portal: Enter portal.elgin.edu into the browser URL and log in with student credentials on your phone or web browser.
  • Technology Borrowing: Online courses are a part of the D2L learning environment. If your course requires specific technology, don't hesitate to contact the instructor for help identifying the appropriate device you need to check out from the ECC Library. Chromebooks are available for checkout at the Library. If you need it for summer classes at ECC, let us know at circdesk@elgin.edu.
  • Testing Services: The Testing Center is in Building B, Room 115. Entering from Building A, take a left and go straight to find the Testing Center, Room B115. Entering from Building B, take a right and go straight to find The Testing Center, Room 115. You MUST bring a photo ID card to complete testing.
  • TRiO: Student Support Services (SSS), Student Support Services ESL (SSSESL), Talent Search, and Upward Bound
  • Tutoring/The Write Place: Tutoring is free! Whether you prefer one-on-one, group sessions, online, or in-person, ECC's Tutoring Center, The Write Place, and Math Lab are available to help you thrive in your classes.  Whether looking for quick study tips for a specific exam or weekly content review support for a challenging class, ECC's professional tutors are an excellent resource.   • Veterans Services: Appointments are available on campus and remotely. Questions? Email our Veteran Services Coordinator, Anitra King aking@elgin.edu.
  • Withdrawal and Registration: Sometimes, despite all your efforts and utilization of ECC resources, you may determine that withdrawal from a class is necessary. You are strongly encouraged to speak with your instructor before withdrawing from any class and meet with your academic and financial aid advisors to ensure you make a fully informed decision. If you decide to withdraw, you can find information for doing so, along with the withdrawal deadlines for your classes, on the Withdrawal Procedures webpage.
  • Wellness Services: Schedule an appointment with ECC's Wellness Services department today if you need emotional support. ECC's professional, licensed therapists understand the unique challenges of being a college student. Their free and confidential counseling services can help manage stress, anxiety, depression, grief, and more. We encourage students to utilize the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline and The National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-7233.

Teaching Resources

  • File Access: Login with an academic account to access files saved to your 'My Documents' and 'Desktop' using ECC's network file server when you're not on campus. Questions? Email helpdesk@elgin.edu
  • Help Desk-report a problem/incident: Employees with technical issues or access requests should use the IT Help Desk.
  • my.Elgin.edu: The employee intranet gives access to college announcements, calendars, and forms.
