Bookstore Curbside Service

The bookstore is not open to students or the public during this time. Use our new curbside service to drop-off rental textbooks from Spring 2020 semester or pick-up ordered textbooks for Summer 2020 classes.

The ECC Bookstore is owned and operated by Elgin Community College for the benefit of our campus. Proceeds from purchases made at the bookstore support the college and its students. Thank you for your support in choosing to shop at the ECC Bookstore.

ECC Bookstore Curbside Service

Pick-up Summer 2020 Online Textbook Orders

Location: Building C main entrance.
Dates: Monday, June 1 through Thursday, August 6.
Time: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  2. When you come to pick-up your order, bring your order number and call 847-214-7147 to alert bookstore staff that you’re there to pick-up textbooks you ordered online.
  3. The bookstore will make individual arrangements with you to pick-up specific instructional materials.
  4. Upon your arrival to campus, bookstore staff will deliver materials to the car.

Textbook Rentals

The ECC Bookstore offers a textbook rental program for select titles. A signed rental agreement is required. Please contact the ECC Bookstore for more information.

Drop-off Spring 2020 Textbook Rentals

Location: Building C main entrance.
Dates: Monday, June 1 through Thursday, June 4.
Time: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  1. When you come to drop-off your rentals; if you do not see bookstore staff, call 847-214-7147 to alert bookstore staff that you would like to drop-off your textbooks.
  2. Upon arrival to campus, the bookstore staff will come out to the car, collect your books, and record receipt.

End of Semester Textbook Buy-back

Selling Spring 2020 Non-Rental Textbooks

Textbook buy-back will be conducted virtually using the bookstore website.

  3. Upon receipt of the book, you will receive a check by mail.
  4. There is no need to come on campus.

What books are eligible for buyback?

  • New and used books in good condition, which will be used the next semester, may be repurchased at up to 50 percent of the purchase price.
  • Books, which will not be used the next semester or titles which exceed the bookstore’s quota, may be repurchased at the current wholesale market value.
  • Workbooks, study guides, discontinued editions, parts of a set, and books in poor condition may not be repurchased during buy-back days.
  • The bookstore reserves the right to limit quantities of all titles purchased during buy-back.

Financial Aid & Bookstore Policy

If you’ve been awarded financial aid; and if you qualify, you may use your financial aid money to purchase required books and supplies in the ECC Bookstore approximately two weeks before the beginning of each semester. Renting a textbook title using financial aid must be done in the store. The rental cannot be completed online. Financial aid cannot be used to pay shipping charges, please select in store pick-up. Book Buying Tips

  • Never buy a book (especially a used one!) until you've examined it to make sure it's in acceptable condition.
  • Never write, mark, or soil your new textbook(s) until you are sure:
    • you have the correct book(s).
    • your class won't be canceled.
    • you won't drop (withdraw from) the course.
